Thanks Katie Andrews and you are right. I should have positioned this as lessons my kids taught me in general as I was writing it with them in mind. When my wife and I started a family we made the decision to make her job the priority as she had the stable career with the most room for advancement (and I should have said this) but we made the decision that I would figure out a way to work from home. During this time I had my fair share of sleepless nights (one didn’t sleep for more than 2 hours for 3 years), loss of contracts as my kids are home with me often — one has monthly fevers due to infections and the other is just a year old (fortunately not as much as in some places as they start public school in Spain at 9 months at a very reasonable price) and my wife works an hour away from home. And I know this is not the norm but my job is being a dad and the lessons from doing this over time have helped me figure out a way to create a career I love that works for the circumstances I have and I am both proud and excited about this.
