Hello Luis — I was 31 when I left the US for Spain. I did not have a family at that point so it was easier to pick up and go. But for my first two years here I was an “illegal immigrant” (did not have EU working papers until I met my now wife) and worked all sorts of odd jobs. Security gaurd at a school, teacher, gave seminars, tours, bar work, soccer games in English etc. Far cry from my corporate sales job and at times barely made ends meet, but I loved every second of it as I was able to reinvent myself and get back to being just “me” and not what I wanted others for me to be.
If you ever get close to pulling the trigger to moving somewhere new — let me know, would be happy to talk. Take care — Michael
